In Fall 2016, there were few courses available at Mississippi State for mid-to-upper level students interested in Algebra, Combinatorics, and Topology. I oversaw a small seminar-type course on Lie Algebras. One undergraduate and one PhD student took the course for credit, and another PhD student audited the course seriously. We used the text Introduction to Lie algebras by Karin Erdmann and Mark Wildon. Students took turns lecturing and presenting exercises, and we made it through about the first 8 chapters of the textbook.
